Steve Beard, VP of Sales Operations at Austin-based insurance start-up The Zebra, will discuss the compensation and benefits related opportunities and challenges of building an inside sales team in a start-up environment. Topics will include finding the right mix of variable versus base pay, implementing a work from home program that enhances a sales environment and keeping the start-up feel while also setting the stage for future expansion.
With over 25 years' experience managing sales teams, Steve is helping Austin-based The Zebra expand an inside sales team to compete in the highly competitive auto insurance industry. Prior to joining The Zebra, Steve led operations with Allstate affiliates, including Esurance where he oversaw a 4x team expansion to over 500 inside sales agents located in five states. He earned the Charter Property Casualty Underwriter designation and holds an MBA from Baldwin-Wallace University.
